OCVarsity Kickoff ’16: Century preview

OCVarsity’s season preview for 2016:

CENTURY CENTURIONS

Coach: Drew Lapic

Last season: 3-7 overall, 1-4 league

Scouting report: The Centurions are young, returning only four starters (two on offense, two on defense). Fernando Cambray will start at quarterback. He impressed Coach Drew Lapic during his limited action in 2015. Cambray completed 19 of 52 passes for 328 yards and one touchdown. Senior linebacker Alfredo Gomez will lead the defense after finishing his junior season with 80 tackles.

Bottom line: This season will be full of challenges for the Centurions. They have speed at key skill positions, which gives them potential big-play threats, but they lack the depth that is probably needed to challenge for a playoff spot.

Players to watch: Fernando Cambray, QB, Jr.; Alfredo Gomez, ILB, Sr.; Alexis Rodriguez, RB/FS, Jr.; Jose Veliz, OT, Jr.
