We know you’ve been annoying your dog all summer, trailing him or her all over the house and yard, camera in hand, waiting for that perfect picture that will wow this year’s “My Dog’s Face” judges.

And guess what?

It’s time.

We’re ready for you.

Only this year, there’s a change in the system. Emotionally battered by readers’ accusations that we have big-dog bias, or that we’re just plain dumb, we’re opting out as judges. We’re going to let you – the readers – help pick the 100 faces that will appear on the Tuesday, Sept. 26, Life, etc. cover.

Photos will be submitted online where you can vote for your favorite. See the simple directions on below.

And may the best dogs win.

How to submit your photo online

This year, “My Dog’s Face” is going digital.

The basic rules are the same as in years past. Submit a close-up of your dog’s face. Only one photo per dog please, same as last year.

But here’s where the change comes in. You must have a digital photo of your dog on your computer. Then, follow these simple steps to submit your photo electronically:

1.On your computer, open up a browser (such as Internet Explorer) and go to http://mypetsface.ocregister.com.

2. Click on the gray “Browse…” button. A window will pop up, allowing you to browse through your personal computer for a photo to submit. Select the photo and click “Open.”

3.Fill out your name, city of residence, e-mail, photo subject and description in the appropriate fields.

4.Click on the blue “Upload now” button.

5.When a page appears that says, “Thank you for submitting your file,” you have successfully submitted your photo. Once it has been approved, it will appear for voting.

6.Now, follow the links back to http://mypetsface.ocregister.comand vote for dog photos submitted by other readers. Your votes will help determine the top 100 faces. You may vote for as many dogs as you like but only one vote per dog. Remember: you’re voting on a scale from 1 to 10 – 10 being the highest.

Get your photos and votes in by Monday, Sept. 18.

You may also email your digital photo directly to mypetsface.1@tamw.com. Please include your name, city of residence, and dog’s name.
