In a year, Portola Middle School will be transformed from a dilapidated facility to a crown jewel of the Orange Unified School District.

The $10 million project, scheduled for completion in April 2008, will add parent/teacher meeting rooms, an upgraded administration building, cafeteria, athletic facilities and a more pedestrian-friendly parking lot.

Portola, on 270 N. Palm Drive in Orange, is one of five OUSD middle schools. It has 935 students enrolled in grades 6-8.
