PASADENA – A near-capacity Rose Bowl crowd roared at halftime of the UCLA-Washington State game as the school honored the late Nick Pasquale, a San Clemente High grad and former walk-on receiver for the Bruins, as part of its Senior Night presentation.
Pasquale was fatally struck by a car in his hometown of San Clemente in September 2013. This would have been his fourth season with the program.
“As everyone knows, Nick had a tremendous impact on us, and their family continues to,” UCLA coach Jim Mora said last week. “So we just want to show our appreciation of them.”
Mora presented a No. 36 jersey, Pasquale’s old number, to his father, Mel Pasquale, and mother Laurie Pasquale.
Several UCLA players, including left tackle Conor McDermott, tight end Colby Cybert, quarterback Jake Hall and linebacker Taylor Lagace, who were close with him, had the Pasquale name on the back of their jerseys rather than their own.
