So Servite coach Troy Thomas, how did you do?
“I got Wilson right, but that’s about it,†Thomas said, smiling.
When the CIF-Southern Section on Sunday released its football playoff brackets for the section’s 13, 11-man football divisions, Servite indeed was paired with Long Beach Wilson in the Pac-5 Division’s first round.
Servite, 9-1 and two-time defending Pac-5 champion, gets a first-round home game Friday at Cerritos College against Wilson, a 5-5 team that is the No. 4 playoff representative from the Moore League.
Mission Viejo (8-2) is seeded second in the Pac-5 Division. The Diablos also will play a Moore League team, Cabrillo of Long Beach (7-3), in a home game Friday. In an all-Orange County first-round pairing in the Pac-5 Division, Tesoro (6-4) will play Edison (8-2) at Orange Coast College.
All first-round games are Friday at 7:30 p.m. Changes could occur in coming days, with the most frequent being the move of kickoffs to 7 p.m.
