Katella running back TJ Ashmeade has been cleared to play against Century on Friday, three weeks after he dislocated his shoulder.
Doctors cleared Ashmeade, Katella's offensive star, on Monday. He ran for 544 yards and four touchdowns in three-plus games for the Knights before hurting his shoulder late in the second quarter in a loss to Garden Grove on Sept. 26. He ran for 1,825 yards and 19 touchdowns last season.
Katella coach Fred DiPalma said Ashmeade's shoulder injury was a minor dislocation. Katella will ease Ashmeade back into practice this week before determining what role he will hold against Century on Friday.
Ashmeade was delighted to get the news he could return to the field, DiPalma said.
“He wanted to come back last week,” DiPalma said. “It was like, 'no way.'”Read the rest of this entry »
