    Here is a look at some of Tuesday's action from around the county.

    In the Academy League:

    Crean Lutheran 9, Calvary Chapel/Downey 0: The Saints (9-3-2, 3-0) picked up the road win, as Maddie Beavers recorded a hat trick.

    Sage Hill 6, Whitney 0: The Lightning used goals from Paige Burke, Meg Crade, Rachel Jaffe, Janis Jin, Alex Mowrey, and Claire Novotny to pick up the road win.

    Girls soccer: Thursday's recap (1-9-14)

    Here is a look at some of Thursday's league action from around the county.

    In the South Coast League:

    No. 1 San Clemente 1, Dana Hills 0: Natalie Higgins’ first-half goal pushed the host Tritons (10-2-3, 1-0) past the Dolphins (2-6-1 0-1).

    In the Sunset League:

    Marina 2, Edison 1: Kayla Perry scored twice, including the match-winner in the second half, to lead the host Vikings (7-3-4, 1-0) past the Chargers (2-3-5, 0-1).

    Fountain Valley 2, Los Alamitos 1: Goals from Valerie Holler and Kasey Reeve pushed the visiting Barons (9-2-4, 1-0) past the Griffins. Alison Marlow recorded a season-high 14 saves for Fountain Valley.

    Huntington Beach 2, Newport Harbor 0: First half goals from Laura Lainson and Sawyer Koelsh helped the host Oilers (7-2-2, 1-0) defeat the Sailors.

    In the Trinity League:

    Mater Dei 3, No.6 Santa Margarita 1: Behind Olivia Ware’s two goals, the Monarchs (6-3-3, 1-0) knocked off the Eagles (5-3-1, 0-1) at Mater Dei. Jessica Harloe added a goal for Mater Dei.

    JSerra 3, Orange Lutheran 0: Julie Doyle scored twice to lead the Lions (8-1-2, 1-0) to a road win over the Lancers (2-6-4, 0-1). Isabella Guerry also tallied a goal for JSerra.

    In the Pacific Coast League:

    Corona del Mar 3, Irvine 0: The Sea Kings (5-3-3, 1-0) blanked the Vaqueros behind two goals from Birkley Sigband and a goal from Miranda Stiver.

    Woodbridge 4, University 4: The visiting Warriors (4-6-1, 0-0-1) scored three times in the second half, as the two teams tied. Grayson Galbraith scored twice, with Ariel Bruss and Sami Sandzimier also scoring for Woodbridge. Shantae Elam, Kiana Ghamari, Sofya Ogunseitan, and Chloe Hemingway scored for the Trojans (5-5-1, 0-0-1).

    Sage Hill 1, Oxford Academy 0: Meg Crade’s second half goal lifted the visiting Lightning past the Patriots (5-2-2).

    In the Empire League:

    Yorba Linda 3, Western 0: The host Mustangs (2-5-3, 1-0) received goals from Georgia Lodge, Caitlin Dolan, and Allie Kolb in a win over the Pioneers.

    Villa Park claims title at Arizona Soccer Showcase

    The Villa Park girls soccer team closed out 2013 with a championship-winning effort Tuesday, as the Spartans defeated Pinnacle High of Phoenix, 2-0, to win the Black Division championship of the Arizona Soccer Showcase.

    Patricia Toon and Naydeen Cabalo suppiled the offense for the Spartans, tallying a goal apiece.

    Here is a look at some of Thursday's results.

    At the Mater Dei Premier Invitational:

    No. 5 Villa Park 1, No. 9 Dana Hills 0: Patricia Toon’s first half goal sparked the Spartans (5-1-1) past the Dolphins (1-4-1) in a Pool B match.

    Mission Viejo 4, Arcadia 1: Brittany Bridgford scored twice in the Diablos (3-0-1) win in a Pool D match. Jessica Simonian and Maddie Zimmerman also tallied goals for Mission Viejo.

    Mater Dei 1, Palisades 0: Olivia Ware’s second half goal lifted the Monarchs (3-2-2) to a win in Pool B action. Shawna Hennings and Sarah Oglesby combined for six saves for Mater Dei.

    Santiago/Corona 1, Corona del Mar 0: Despite eight saves from Kendall Mulvaney, the Sea Kings (1-2-2) were defeated in a Pool A match.

    Other Tournament Scores

    Harvard-Westlake 0, Foothill 0

    Los Alamitos 0, Bishop Amat 0


    In Nonleague:

    No. 6 Santa Margarita 2, No. 2 Capistrano Valley 1: McKenna Roth scored a goal, as the Eagles (3-1-1) edged the Cougars (3-2-1) at Capistrano Valley.

    Beckman 3, Tesoro 2: The Patriots (2-6-1) received goals from Emily Baeza, Samantha Rodriguez, and Lauren Sabella in their road win over the Titans (1-4).  Elizabeth Baeza had 12 saves for Beckman.

    Marina 3, University 2: Rachel Slender scored the match-winning goal with less than a minute remaining the match to lead the visiting Vikings (5-2-2) past the Trojans (5-5). Nikki Slender and Nicole Salazar also scored for Marina.

    Rosary 3, Fullerton 0: Madeline McDonald scored two of the Royals’ (5-1-1) three first half goals in a win over the Indians at Fullerton College. Emilee Monning also tallied a goal for Rosary.

    Segerstrom 5, Garden Grove 0: Jazmi Lopez scored two goals and added an assist to lead the host Jaguars (5-1) past the Argonauts (5-2-1). Odalis Elias, Alondra Navoa, and Vivian Vega also recorded goals.

    Oxford Academy 8, CAMS 0: Brianna Washa scored five goals in the host Patriots’ win. Crystal Fourtis added two goals for Oxford Academy.

    No. 6 Santa Margarita 2, Trabuco Hills 1:  The Eagles (2-1-1) received goals from Maggie Ghotbi and Heather Walleigh in their win over the Mustangs (3-4) at Santa Margarita High.

    Newport Harbor 3, Corona del Mar 2: Toni Holland, Sianna Siemonsma, and Jessi Prather tallied goals as the Sailors (4-4) defeated the Sea Kings (1-1-2) at Corona del Mar High in the Battle of the Bay.

    El Toro 2, Beckman 0: Kaiya McCullough scored twice in the second half as the host Chargers (3-1-3) win defeated the Patriots (1-6-1) at El Toro High. Megan Boyd has eight saves for El Toro.

    No. 1 Aliso Niguel 2, M.L. King/Riverside 0: Myranda Baca and Dominique Bond-Flasza scored first half goals to lead the Wolverines (3-0) to the home victory.

    No. 3 Sunny Hills 1, Upland 1: Miranda Flores tallied a first half goal in the Lancers (1-0-1) road tie. Hayley Boroch scored for Upland.

    Edison 3, Orange Lutheran 0: MacKenzie Cerda scored two goals, as the host Chargers (1-1-2) knocked of the Lancers (1-1-1). Amanda Erickson also added a goal for Edison.
