IRVINE – The host Irvine Novaquatics posted a second-place finish in the girls’ 400-meter freestyle relay at the Speedo Junior National Championships on Tuesday night at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center.

The relay team of Laguna Hills senior swimmer Courtney Wilde (58.89), Crean Lutheran South freshman Lindsey Engel (57.65), Woodbridge junior Genevieve Bradford (58.27) and eighth-grader Ella Eastin (58.12) blazed to a time of 3 minutes, 52.93 seconds.

Powerhouse Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics won the race in a meet-record 3:48.24, clipping the 2009 standard set by the Colorado Stars.

In the prelims, Torrance High product Vladimir Morozov set a meet record in the 100 freestyle with a sizzling 49.06. The USC-bound sprinter captured the final in 49.15.

The 18-and-under meet continues through Friday.
