Female athlete of year Taylor Eddleman, track and field

Eddleman is headed to UC Santa Barbara to compete in track and field next year.

She was the Orange County champion in the high jump and the Sunset League runner-up in the high jump.

Eddleman was the CIF Division 1 champion in the high jump and a Masters Meet qualifier.

Male athletes of the year George Gleason, surfing, cross country and track and field

Gleason is headed to UCLA next year to compete in cross country and track.

In surfing, he was first team All-Sunset League.

In cross country, Gleason was named to the All-County team.

He was also the Sunset League individual champion and a member of the team’s Sunset League championship squad.

Gleason was also a CIF state finalist.

In track and field, he was the Orange County champion in the 3,200 meters and the Sunset League champion in the 1,600 meters and 3,200 meters.

Gleason was also All-CIF Division 1 in the 1,600 meters, and finished in fourth place. He was also a Masters Meet qualifier.

Alex Wolf, volleyball and water polo

Wolf is headed to UCLA to play water polo.

This past season, he was on the Oilers’ Sunset League championship team. He was named Sunset League MVP and was selected Orange County player of the year by the Register.

In volleyball, Wolf was first team All-Sunset League and first team All-County.

“His extreme athleticism has allowed him to excel in his secondary sport of volleyball,” said coach Craig Pazanti.

T.J. DeFalco, volleyball

DeFalco has signed to play volleyball at Long Beach State next season.

DeFalco was a three-year starter on the Oilers’ CIF championship team.

He was named Orange County Register Player of the Year the past two seasons and is considered the No. 1 recruit in the nation by Volleyball Magazine.

DeFalco was the MVP in the Sunset League in back-to-back years and was the Sunset League male athlete of the year.

He was also selected to the USA men’s Pan American Games and, according to school officials, is the youngest player ever to be picked for the World League roster.

“His power and volleyball IQ separate him from the rest,” said Pazanti. “He has been the backbone of three straight CIF Southern Section, Southern California Regional and national championship teams.”
