Cooper Kossick, cross country, track and soccer

Kossick was a two-sport athlete in cross country and track. As a freshman, he was immediately a varsity member of both, as well as a member of varsity soccer. As he got older, Kossick focused solely on running. The past two years he has finished first team all-league for cross country with a personal best of 14:47 for 3-miles.

In track, he is one of the premier athletes in the state in the 1,600 meter. He was ranked 17th overall, and 53rd overall in the country. Kossick owns a lifetime best of 4:11.88, which currently resides as the 50th best all-time for Orange County. He is also an accomplished 800 meter runner, with a lifetime best of 1:54.03. He will be continuing his running at UC Santa Barbara.

Thomas Smith, swimming

Smith was an 13-time Sunset League champion. He set five Sunset League records and was named league swimmer of the year twice. Smith has also been a CIF Division 1 finalist 12 times. Three of those swims ranked him in the top 10 all-time in the county, said head coach Diggy Riley.

In the classroom, Smith has been an Academic Athlete All-American all four years while at Edison with a GPA of 4.27. He has also earned six character awards and named a Golden Key finalist three times, both given to students who excel in the classroom. He will be furthering his academic and athletics at LSU in the fall.

Julia Sienski, cross country and track

Sienski was a two-sport athlete in cross country and track. She has been the back-to-back Sunset League champion for cross country, where she has also been a state meet participant the last two years and owns a lifetime best of 17:30 for 3 miles, coach Brian Brierly said.

In track, she was the back-to-back Sunset League champion in the mile. Her 1,600 meter personal best is 4:55.31, which ranked 20th in the state, 75th in the nation and 54th best in Orange County history. Her 3,200 meter personal best is 10:42.29, which was 24th in the state, 99th in the nation and 36th best in Orange County history. She will keep running at Columbia University.

Ali Wester, softball

Wester was a four-year starter for the Edison softball team. She is a four-time first team selection and for the 2015 season was selected as the Sunset League MVP.

As one of the most dominating lead-off hitters in the county, Wester has been a force on this Chargers roster all four years and spent the past two years as the team captain, coach Kim Ensey said. Her experience with the Firecrackers Softball organization has prepared her for excellence on and off the field. She also maintains a very high GPA and will be attending the University of Notre Dame after graduation. While at Edison, Wester also played volleyball and basketball.
