The Fourth District Court of Appeal Thursday struck down a lawsuit that accused the Orange Unified School District of violating Trustee Steve Rocco’s freedom of speech.

Rocco, Californians Aware and Richard McKee filed the suit nearly two years ago. The suit alleged that Rocco was wrongfully censured by his fellow trustees for commenting on a principal’s relocation in the district.

The lawsuit also alleged that the school district, along with the trustees, violated the Brown Act and that Rocco’s civil rights were violated after his comments were allegedly edited from videotape for cable television.

Rocco, best known for being elected without campaigning and his conspiracy rants during board meetings, is now running for a seat on the Santa Ana City Council.
