2010 ALL-COUNTY GIRLS LACROSSE TEAMS

Player of the Year: Shaina Denny, Los Alamitos (Player of the Year story.)

Coach of the Year: Meredith Meyran, Los Alamitos (Coach of the Year story.)

FIRST TEAM

Attack

Courtney Valdez, Foothill, attack: The sophomore helped the Knights reach the Orange County title match against Los Alamitos. Valdez had five goals in the title match. On the season, she had 72 goals and 21 assists. Valdez, a first team All-Sea View League player, also had 47 groundballs.

Morgan Chaney, Trabuco Hills, attack: The senior scored 59 goals and had 24 assists, earning all-Sea View League first-team honors for the Mustangs, who were ranked in the top 10 in the county for most of the year. Chaney also had 31 groundballs. She is undecided about where she will attend college next year, said Coach Scott Mann.

Tracy Paulson, Los Alamitos, attack: The senior helped the Griffins win their second consecutive county and Southern California titles. She had 82 goals and 23 assists and scooped up 54 ground balls. Paulson, a first-team All-Sunset League player, also had 19 takeaways.

Kristin Robbins, Los Alamitos, defense: The senior was a key defender on the Griffins’ championship squad this past season, earning first team All-Sunset League honors. Robbins had 41 groundballs and 51 takeaways for the Griffins. Robbins also had seven goals and three assists.

Amiya Moretta, Los Alamitos, defense: The senior, a first team All-Sunset League player, was instrumental in the Griffins championship year. She had 49 groundballs and 41 take-aways. Moretta also had two goals and four assists for the Griffins.

M.J. Boud, San Clemente, defense: The sophomore was one of the outstanding players in the South Coast League this season, earning all-league honors. She had 76 groundballs and 44 takeaways for the Tritons. Boud was also an offensive force, scoring 53 goals and recording three assists.

Danica Kristiansen, El Toro, goalie: The junior helped the Chargers to a successful season in the Sea View League and a top five county ranking for most of the year. Kristiansen, an all-league player, had 203 saves and saved 59 percent of the shots taken against her.

Haleigh Cummings, JSerra, midfielder: The junior rolled up some big numbers to earn all-Trinity League honors. She had 94 goals and 15 assists. Cummings was also a force on defense for the Lions, recording 63 groundbalsl and 22 takeaways.

Shaina Denny, Los Alamitos, midfielder: The senior had some big games in the Griffins’ championship run. The all-county lacrosse MVP scored 61 goals and had 37 assists for Los Alamitos. Denny, a first team All-Sunset League player, also had 45 groundballs and 25 takeaways.

Jacky Craycraft, El Toro, midfielder: Craycraft, a senior, helped the Chargers through a successful Sea View League season and solid run in the Division I playoffs. Craycraft scored 61 goals and had 34 assists. A first team all-league player, Craycraft also had 49 groundballs.

Megan Armes, Mission Viejo, midfielder: Armes helped the Diablos pull off a first-round playoff victory over Trabuco Hills and advance to the quarterfinal round of the playoffs for the first time. She was consistent all season for the team. Armes scored 71 goals and had seven assists. Armes also had 112 ground balls.
