Santa Ana Valley runs wild
Talauega, Nacoste combine for 5 TDs
Santa Ana Santa Ana Valley used a heavy dose of fullback Alex Talauega and running back Darius Nacoste in a 35-6 victory over Century in an Orange League game Thursday night at Santa Ana Stadium. The pair combined for 344 yards and five touchdowns on 40 carries.
“Darius had some really good runs,” Falcons coach Larry Mohr said. “I was real pleased. We spent the last two days teaching Alex how to play fullback. He did pretty well.”
Nacoste’s share was 224 yards on 25 carries, including four scores. But it was Talauega, playing in his first game at fullback, who got the Falcons (5-2, 1-1) soaring. He scored from 2 yards on the team’s first possession.
Uriel Mora broke an 80-yard touchdown run on Century’s first play on its ensuing possession for only score by the Centurions (1-6, 0-2).
Nacoste scored on runs of 30, 3, 6 and 6 yards.
