MURRIETA- Vista High of Murrieta scored its first touchdown just under a minute into its game and went on to hand Kennedy its first loss of the season Friday night, 38-3.
“They came out like a buzz-saw, and we were shell-shocked,” Kennedy coach Mitch Olson said. “It was kind of like we got slapped in the face and just stood there and took it. That’s the thing I’m most disappointed about.”
The Broncos got a pair of touchdowns from Division I-prospect quarterback Kavon Seaton in the first quarter, and Kennedy’s defense had trouble stopping Seaton and Vista running back Bradley Randle.
The duo combined for 182 yards on the ground, and Seaton added another 66 yards passing.
Leading the Irish was quarterback Zac Emde, who was returning to his former hometown, where he led the Broncos’ crosstown rival Murrieta Valley squad last fall.
Emde finished with 112 yards in the air on 11-for-25 passing.
