WESTMINSTER — Los Alamitos scored four first-half touchdowns and rolled to a 52-0 victory over Marina in a Sunset League football game Thursday night at Westminster High.

The Griffins improved to 6-1 overall and 1-1 in league after losing their Sunset opener to Newport Harbor last week. The Vikings fell to 1-6 and 0-2.

Los Alamitos led, 31-0, at intermission, but the damage could have been worse. A Vikings goal-line stand kept another score off the board in the second quarter.

The Griffins, leading 17-0, had the ball at the Marina 2 but were stuffed on four consecutive run plays, including the last two by Nick Richardson.

On third-and-goal, Richardson was stood up by Joey Livingston. Then on fourth down, Richardson was brought down by three Vikings defenders.

Richardson ended the game with 114 yards on 13 carries, including two touchdowns.

He scored on his first carry of the game from 29 yards to give the Griffins a 7-0 lead. Richardson carried it in from 7 yards on Los Alamitos' second possession to push the advantage to 14-0. Dan Boyer added a 32-yard field goal to make it 17-0 at the end of the opening quarter.

Marina completed a 44-yard pass late in the second quarter to gain its best field position of the first half at Los Al's 39. However, the Griffins forced a punt and used their two-minute offense to punch it in before the half ended when Dylan Lagarde scored from the 1 to make it 31-0.

It was Lagarde's second touchdown of the game. He also ran it in on a keeper from 7 yards that made the score 24-0 with 5:04 left in the first half.

Lagarde was starting in place of Dylan Cook. Lagarde, who transferred from Long Beach Poly, finished the game 10 of 21 for 177 yards.

Griffins defensive tackle Mason Pau'u, who limped off the field late last week in the team's loss at Newport Harbor, started against Marina.

Los Alamitos faces Edison next Friday, while Marina visits Esperanza on Thursday.
