Johnson rallies Fairmont Prep
Fairmont Preps beats CSDR, 41-30.
CERRITOS - Fairmont Prep overcame a 10-point third-quarter deficit by using the running of Richard Johnson to score a 41-30 triumph over California School for the Deaf-Riverside (CSDR) on Saturday night at Valley Christian High.
Johnson, who rushed for 231 yards on 22 carries, had touchdown runs of 10, 56 and 3 yards, to bring the Huskies (5-2 overall, 3-1 San Joaquin League) from a 24-14 deficit to a 34-24 lead with 8:52 left in the contest.
Fairmont Prep quarterback Kevin Wagner scored from 1 yard out to put the finishing touches on the victory.
It was the Huskies’ third league triumph in a row.
Fairmont rolled up 465 yards of total offense.
The visiting Cubs (1-6, 0-4) were led by quarterback Galvin Drake, who threw for 286 yards and four touchdowns in the loss.
