Villa Park overcomes sloppy effort to beat Brea Olinda

BREA - Villa Park successfully navigated a maze of missed scoring opportunities, penalties and turnovers Friday to remain unbeaten in the Century League.
The Spartans struggled before posting a 13-2 victory over host Brea Olinda.
Villa Park (4-3, 2-0) did collect 320 yards in offense, in spite of fumbling four times (losing two), having a pass intercepted and accumulating seven penalties for 81 yards.
Tyler Watkins did pass for 121 yards and a touchdown, and Clay Craft rushed for 115 yards on 23 carries.
Brea Olinda (1-6, 0-2) absorbed its sixth consecutive loss, as the Wildcats were held to 149 yards of offense, had two passed intercepted and were flagged nine times for 90 yards.
Wildcats quarterback Michael Frisina missed on field-goal tries of 46 and 32 yards in the first five minutes of the game, the second being turned into an 88-yard, five-play drive capped when Watkins hit a wide-open Parker Roberts for 23 yards and the game's only touchdown with 5:43 left in the opening period.
On the first play of the second quarter, the Wildcats ended a three-game scoring drought when Coty Reid sacked Watkins in the end zone for a safety.
Andrew Miller sent Villa Park into the locker room at halftime with a 10-2 advantage after kicking a 40-yard field, and he completed the evening's scoring with a 846-yarder minutes into the second half.
Roberts ended with six receptions for 110 yards and intercepted a Frisina pass with seven minutes remaining in the first half.
