Los Amigos picks up first victory

GARDEN GROVE - Jose Gonzalez threw two touchdown passes, and Ricky Vu rushed for 132 yards as Los Amigos notched its first victory of the season, 17-7, over Santa Ana in a nonleague game Friday at Garden Grove High.

Gonzalez threw touchdown passes of 24 and 52 yards to Vu and Jose Perez in the second quarter, lifting the Lobos (1-3) to a 14-0 halftime lead.

Late in the third quarter, Randy Gonzalez capped a 12-play, 81-yard Saints (3-1) scoring drive with a 3-yard touchdown run, trimming the Santa Ana deficit to 14-7.

Jose Gonzalez then guided the Lobos on a 17-play drive lasting more than seven minutes of the fourth quarter that ended with him kicking a 27-yard field goal.

The Los Amigos defense, led by Fidel Mendoza and Albert Villasana, limited Santa Ana to 72 yards in the first half and forced four turnovers in the game.

Vu has rushed for more than 100 yards in each of the Lobos’ four games this season.
He has 573 yards rushing for the season.
