FULLERTON - Preparing for its Freeway League title showdown next Friday against host La Habra, Fullerton scored twice in the first quarter with just one play from scrimmage and cruised to a 41-7 league victory over Sonora on day at Fullerton District Stadium. (Full game stats.)
Michael Allain paced the Indians (3-0, 7-1) on offense, scoring three touchdowns and rushing for 280 yards on 20 carries. The first time he touched the ball in the game, he sprinted 54 yards into the end zone with just over three minutes gone in the game.
He completed his scoring with an 84-yard scamper with 56 seconds left in the third quarter.
Sonora (1-2, 3-5) was driving down the field after Allain's first TD when a fumble by Raiders quarterback Chaz Woxland was picked up by Fullerton lineman Derek Coloma, who raced 73 yards untouched into the end zone, giving the Indians a 13-0 lead.
A 3-yard TD run by Allain and another from a yard out by Anthony Milone increased the lead to 27-0 just before halftime. The Indians wrapped up its scoring on a 65-yard pass from Dominic Ficociello to Joseph Hill with eight minutes remaining.
Graham Lovelady tallied Sonora’s only TD on a 12-yard run late in the game.
