HUNTINGTON BEACH- Aaron Garbutt rushed for 192 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead Westminster to a 49-0 victory over Saddleback in a Golden West League game Friday at Ocean View High.
Garbutt only carried the ball eight times but scored on runs of 5, 53 and 81 yards as the Lions (4-3, 2-0) won their third in a row.
Westminster scored three touchdowns in the first quarter. Garbutt capped the game's opening drive with a 5-yard TD run.
Following a punt by the Roadrunners (0-7, 0-2), Westminster needed only four plays to make it 14-0. QB Kenny Chapple finished the drive with a 27-yard touchdown run. Moments later, Garbutt tallied his second touchdown on a 53-yard run. He added an 81-yard TD run in the third.
Chapple tossed a 15-yard touchdown pass to Michael Luu in the second quarter and the Lions led, 28-0, at halftime. Louie Villa rushed for 110 yards for Westminster.
Anthony Lopez led Saddleback with 35 yards rushing. He also had a sack.
