ANAHEIM - After a slow start to begin the season, Savanna has found its groove.
Donald Livingston scored two touchdowns, and DaShawn Miller rushed for 101 yards Friday as Savanna defeated visiting Buena Park, 38-14, at Glover Stadium.
“I was happy with the performance,” said Rebels coach Roger Whalen, whose team has won two in a row after three losses to begin the year.
Savanna jumped to a 17-7 first half lead despite having only two offensive possessions. A second quarter Miller 2-yard run capped a 12 play drive, and Livingston added a 49-yard fumble return.
Buena Park (1-4) answered when Ricky Verdugo scored on a spectacular 71-yard catch-and-run between two defenders. The Coyotes followed with a successful onside kick, eventually reaching the Rebel 4-yard line before time expired in the half.
Livingston upped the lead on a 44-yard option run to begin the third quarter. Donevin Washington and James Mares also added touchdowns for the victors.
