Sonora edges Brea Olinda, 20-16
Raiders (2-0) rally for second consecutive week.
Michael Frisina’s pass fell incomplete in the end zone with less than a minute to play, allowing the Raiders (2-0) to win for the second week in a row with a late rally.
Trailing 16-13, Luevano bolted off tackle and broke four tackles en route to scoring the winning TD.
“We’re underdogs in every game we play,” said Luevano, who rushed for 120 yards. He also gave the Raiders a 6-0 lead with a 7-yard TD run in the first quarter.
Frisina threw a 21-yard TD pass to Luke Williams with 11 seconds left in the first half to get Brea even at 13.
In the first quarter, Coty Reid’s 1-yard touchdown run tied the score at 6-6 for Brea. Derek O’Hanlon capped a 13-play, 53-yard scoring drive with a 1-yard TD run, giving the Raiders a 13-6 lead. Frisina tossed a 21-yard touchdown pass to Luke Williams with 11seconds left in the half tying the score, 13-13, at intermission.
Late in the third quarter Frisina gave the Wildcats a, 16-13, lead with a 25-yard field goal.
