Alvarez's passes lead Santiago in romp
Orange vs. Santiago
ORANGE -Santiago quarterback Harvey Alavez threw three touchdowns passes as the Cavaliers defeated Orange, 33-13, in a nonleague game Friday night at El Modena Stadium.
Santiago appeared to get on the board early with a 32-yard run by Paul Escamilla with 10:52 left in the first quarter, but a penalty negated the play. The Cavaliers did score with 4:51 left in the first quarter when Alavez hit Gabe Esquivel with a 5-yard touchdown pass.
With 11:55 left in the second quarter, Santiago scored again on a 9-yard touchdown run by John Bui. After a 3-yard touchdown run by Santiago's Edward Hornsby with 2:39 left in the second, Orange scored its only touchdown in the first half on a 7-yard pass from Newman Collett to Alfredo Carrillo.Santiago had three apparent touchdowns taken away by penalties.
