He won the CIF-SS Southern Individual Regional after shooting a 6-under 66 at Skylinks Golf Course in Long Beach. Two days later, he won a U.S. Open local qualifying tournament carding a 10-under 61 at Newport Beach Country Club. He missed the course record held by Nick Price and Tom Purtzer by one stroke. He won medalist honors at the qualifier by six shots.
