TUSTIN Running back Matt Wagner and his 202 rushing yards held the offense together while Trabuco Hills figured out who would win its quarterback shuffle in a 22-16 Sea View League victory over Foothill at Tustin High on Friday night.
"The offensive line did all the work, and I just ran through the holes," Wagner said. "This win puts us in a good position to win the league title."
In the second half Cory Brandt emerged as the Mustangs (6-1, 2-0) quarterback, completing all eight of his passes for 114 yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Adam Mooney, who finished the game with 10 catches for 129 yards and three scores, was the primary beneficiary.
The Knights (5-2, 1-1) stayed in striking distance throughout the game and even had several opportunities take the lead, but four interceptions (three by the Mustangs' Gabe Lemon) sealed their fate.
