Whittier Christian tallies 34-16 win over Savanna

Special to OCVarsity.com
WHITTIERWhittier Christian’s offense is clearly ready for its showdown with streaking St. Margaret’s next week.

The defense? Another story altogether as the Heralds allowed 300 yards rushing in their 34-16 victory over Savanna at Whittier College on Friday night.

Whittier Christian tailback Nick Camarillo had 152 yards of total offense, one rushing touchdown and another receiving, and senior Mark Edwards added 112 yards rushing and a score as the Heralds rolled up 450 yards of offense.

It was Rebels running back Dashawn Miller, however, who gave Whittier Christian coach Jon Caffrey cause for concern.

But Rebels (0-3) running back Dashawn Miller gashed the Heralds (2-1) for 233 yards on 30 carries, including a 41-yard touchdown. Savanna ran all dives at the undersized Whittier Christian defensive line.

“If I had their size of kids, I would have done the same thing,” Caffrey said.

Quarterback Vito Zaccaria added a 33-yard touchdown run for Savanna.
