HUNTINGTON BEACH - Playing its first homecoming on its actual home field in more than 20 years, Brethren Christian sent a capacity crowd home happy and stayed alive in the Academy League playoff race with a 41-7 victory over Sage Hill at Brethren Christian on Friday night.
The Warriors (3-6 overall, 1-1 league) scored on all four of their first-half possessions, two each on Drew Fabrigas runs and Jeremiah Bell receptions of Brad Hess passes, to take a 27-0 lead at the break.
Sage Hill (2-7, 0-2) got on the board on Taylor Ross' 57-yard run to open the third quarter.
Runs by Matt Bodziak 54 yards) and Hess (9 yards) closed the scoring for Brethren, which put up 525 yards of offense while holding the Lightning to 179.
