Strong second half carries Beckman to victory
TUSTIN - Beckman overcame a sloppy, penalty-riddled start by scoring on five of its six second-half possessions and forcing two interceptions down the stretch for a 49-28 victory against Torrance (1-3) in a nonleague matchup at Tustin High on Friday.
Cameron Biedgoly passed for 206 yards and rushed for three scores, and Brian Brooks ran for 189 yards to lead the late-game surge.
“We did not have a great first half, but I like the way our guys responded,” Patriots coach Ken Mushinskie said.
Beckman (2-2) took a 28-21 lead on Biedgoly’s 830-yard touchdown pass to Bryce Bartholomew with 8:29 left in the game.
Biedgoly scored on a 6-yard run on the next series to go up, 35-21, and Jacob Lehner added a 12-yard rushing score with 3:20 left.
