Tustin vs. Centennial/Compton
COMPTON - Tustin romped past Centennial of Compton, 69-28, on Friday afternoon at Centennial High.
"We needed a good win and a chance to break our running backs loose a little bit," Tustin coach Myron Miller said. "This came along at the right time for us."
Anthony Wilkerson had four first-half rushing touchdowns as the Tillers (1-3) took a 27-14 lead. Tustin's Ameer Webb scored on touchdown runs of 50 and 33 yards in the third quarter, and Wilkerson added a fifth score from 25 yards out in the fourth quarter, finishing with 202 yards on 19 carries. Both scores by the Apaches (0-3) came as a result of Tustin breakdowns, including a 64-yard scoring reception by Antwon Cole on a fake punt and Theron West's 38-yard interception return in the second quarter. Webb had 150 on nine attempts, as Tustin (1-3) rolled up 397 yards on the ground.
"He is starting to look like a running back instead of a track guy trying to play football," Miller said.
