Eight O.C. teams advance, but two are eliminated

OCVarsity.com
Orange County teams were perfect in the state basketball playoffs Monday.

They were close Tuesday, with two big exceptions.

Eight county teams advanced to Thursday's regional semifinals, including every O.C. girls team that played Tuesday. But the county's two boys teams in the Division I bracket had their seasons ended.

Mater Dei, which only lost its first game of the season Saturday, lost again Tuesday against Fairfax and finished a season that had been full of high expectations. Tesoro, which won the CIF-SS Division I-A championship Saturday, dropped its second-round state playoff game at M.L. King of Riverside.
