Troy-Walnut recap
WALNUT - Troy coach Kevin Hastin couldn’t have asked for a better start to his head coaching career.
The Warriors kicked off the Hastin era Friday with a 34-0 drubbing of Walnut High in their season-opener at Ken Gunn Stadium.
Hastin was promoted in January after serving seven seasons as the Warriors’ defensive coordinator and showed that he hasn’t lost his penchant for defense. Walnut gained just 150 yards offense and didn’t get close to the end zone.
Troy, meanwhile, scored five times and amassed 363 yards offense. Dallas Parent rushed for 102 yards on nine carries and scored twice, while receiver Nathan Knight caught two touchdown passes – both for touchdowns.
