    IN THE SPOTLIGHT

    Mater Dei.

    UNDER CONSTRUCTION

    JSerra
The building continues. The Lions will be better but still are a couple of years away from being a factor in this tough league.

    PLAYER TO WATCH

    Bijon Samoodi, Servite
He was All-County as a defensive back last year, and will be a prominent offensive player this year for the Friars.

    OTHER TOP PLAYERS

Mater Dei: Linebacker Jordan Allen; running back Jaron Hytche; receiver Christian Maldonado; offensive lineman Chris Ward.
Orange Lutheran: Running back Exavier Edwards; receiver Scott Williams; linebacker Jeremiah Pemasa; defensive back/receiver Gabe Lemon; defensive back Terrence Brown.
Servite: Linebacker Dontaie Ferguson; kicker/punter Mike Loftus; running back Greg Portis; offensive lineman Zach Burge.
Santa Margarita: Cornerback A.J. Cruz; receiver Gavin Escobar; quarterback Ryan World; kicker Rob Maniaci; offensive lineman Alex Reyes.
St. John Bosco: Defensive lineman Joseph Gonzalez; linebacker Tierney Yates; offensive lineman Anthony Garcia; receiver Will Shamburger; quarterback Keith Price; receiver Leon McFadden.
JSerra: Quarterback Hayden Greene; linebacker/running back Joseph Kimpler; offensive/defensive lineman Hayden Cornwell.

    MARK YOUR CALENDAR

Orange Lutheran vs. Mater Dei, Santa Ana Stadium, Nov. 13
Lutheran has beaten Mater Dei the past two seasons. This game will be the final regular-season game for both. There could be a lot on the line - the league championship, perhaps, and/or the county's No. 1 ranking, and/or playoff seedings.

    TOUGHEST SCHEDULE

    Servite
Every Trinity team plays a challenging nonleague schedule, but the Friars' might be the most difficult. They open against CIF-Southern Section Western Division champion St. Paul then play at Clovis West (CIF-Central Section Division I runner-up in '07), at CIF-SS Pac-5 Division runner-up Crespi (which beat Servite in the Pac-5 semis last year), against Edison (Sunset League co-champion in '07), and against Note Dame of Sherman Oaks (8-3 and beat Servite last year).
