Tustin 35, Centennial Compton 26

Just when it looked like injuries would catch up to Tustin, DeAngelo Townsell had a career night.

Already without starting tailback Anthony Wilkerson, the Tillers lost quarterback Antonio Mendoza to injury in the second quarter, but Townsell rushed for five touchdowns and recorded an interception to help Tustin escape with a 35-26 win over Centennial (Compton) in a nonleague game Friday at Tustin High.

"When [Mendoza]got hurt I told myself I wasn’t going to give up," Townsell said. "I made sure my team wasn't going to give up and I just had to put it in the endzone."

Townsell scored his fifth touchdown from 2 yards out with 4:05 left in the game to move ahead 35-20.
