Sage Hill vs. CVC recap
NEWPORT COAST- Sage Hill's Jamie McGee went out with a bang in his final regular-season home game, throwing for 411 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Lightning past Capistrano Valley Christian, 60-37 on Friday night at Sage Hill in an Academy League game.
McGee ran for two touchdowns as well. Nick Witte caught five passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns and Preston Okleias caught nine passes for 216 yards and three touchdowns.
McGee's seven touchdowns were all the offense Sage Hill needed. The Lightning defense was aided by two interceptions by Tom Multari, one of which was returned for a touchdown.
The score was tied, 14-14, with less than one minute left in the first half when Sage Hill's Michael Higgins' kickoff return gave the Lightning field position in CVC territory. A couple plays later, McGee hit Witte for a 42-yard touchdown that put them up 20-14. They never trailed again.
CVC's offense came mostly from Mike Christensen, running for 136 yards.
