HUNTINGTON BEACH Steven Marquez rushed for two first-quarter touchdowns as Westminster pounded Ocean View, 41-6, on Friday night at Ocean View High to remain undefeated in the Golden West League.
The Lions (6-3, 4-0) jumped out to a 7-0 lead on a 2-yard touchdown run by Alex Gomez, set up by Dallas Mackey’s blocked punt.
Marquez added touchdown runs of 5 and 24 yards, finishing with 130 yards on eight carries.
Wide receiver Aaron Garbutt also impressed in a sloppy game, scoring on a 12-yard reverse and catching a 30-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Juan Ortiz.
Each team had four turnovers at the half, as Seahawks quarterback Dana Maley threw three interceptions and lost a fumble.
Linebacker Robert Garay intercepeted a pass and returned it 47 yards with no time remaining in the third quarter for the lone touchdown for Ocean View (6-3, 2-2).
