Akeelie Muhammad rushes for 181 yards.
WHITTIER - Cypress started its first offensive series with a rushing attempt and that worked so well they decided to keep the ball on the ground en route to a 41-7 nonleague victory over Pioneer on Friday night.

The Centurions methodically pounded the ball and dominated the clock, with scoring drives of 14 and 17 plays respectively to take a 14-0 halftime lead.

Akeelie Muhammad  picked up 133 of his 181 yards in the first half, including a 9-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

In the third quarter, Centurions quarterback Max Reza busted up the middle for a 45-yard touchdown run. After the Titans (0-3) scored, Jared Cohen took the kickoff and sprinted 92 yards, stretching out to reach the pylon for the touchdown.

Taylor Coe added two short touchdown runs for the Centurions (1-2). Vincent Rivera’s tackle-busting 15-yard touchdown run completed the scoring.

Toscalaneo Morris had two interceptions for Cypress.
