Huskies trounce Titans
Chino Hills 36, Tesoro 27
Despite Tesoro quarterback Robbie Picazothrowing for 328 yards and three touchdowns, the Titans couldn't overcome Chino Hills.
The Huskies defeated the Titans, 36-27, in a nonleague game Thursday night at Tesoro High.
"We are feeling pretty good," Chino Hills coach Terry Roche said. "Tesoro is a good club. We played pretty hard tonight."
Tesoro's A.J. Kirkpatrickcaught a 71-yard touchdown pass to bring the Titans to within 29-27 in the fourth quarter. But Picazo's two-point conversion pass was batted down at the line.
A failed onside kick left the Huskies with good field position and they responded on quarterback Lino Innocenzi's 5-yard keeper to push their advantage to 36-27.
Picazo hooked up with Harold Williamsfor a 10-yard touchdown pass with a minute to go before halftime. It gave the Titans a brief 21-20 lead.
Chino Hills scored with 17 seconds left in the first half and reclaimed the lead at 26-21. On the play, receiver Jordan Gomez caught a 35-yard pass in the end zone after it was deflected by one Titan defender, then bounced off another's helmet.
The Titans held a 14-7 lead after Brett Gudim's10-yard touchdown reception. But Isaiah Williams took the ensuing kickoff 88 yards to tie it.
