Wrestling notes: Santa Ana girls place third in Washington

The Santa Ana girls wrestling team finished third at the West Coast Women's Championships in Washington on Friday.

The Lady Saints scored 96 points as a team with four medalists and one individual champion.  Berenice Blanco won the 130-pound weight class. Blanco won her first matches by fall to advance to the finals.

In the finals she defeated Allison Brown of Stevenson, Washington by major decision, 14-3.

There were champions from four different states (Washington, Oregon, Idaho and California).

Other medalists for Santa Ana include: Analy Gonzales (third at 138), Brenda Perez (fourth at 155), Alyin Hernandez (second at 170) and Veronica Pascual, who was sixth at 145 pounds.
