Teams 6-10
6. Foothill: The defending Sea View League champion Knights lost their starting pitcher, Brandi Escarzaga, and their top hitter, McKenna Lowe, to graduation, but they return their 3, 4 and 5 hitters, Chloe Valenzuela, Courtney Duncan and Jaquilyn Edwards. Talented freshmen Hallie Wilson, Cara Wooden and Emily Koerner will get a lot of playing time and sophomores Anna Avalos and Esther Strom will be battling in the preseason to become the No. 1 starter in the circle.
7. Marina: The Vikings have some solid pitching with junior Taysia Kaufman and freshman Jamie Sullivan, which should give them the edge in the Sunset League title race. Mariah Nogueira has a nice glove, speed and a big stick.
8. Beckman: The strong pitching of Trista Thomas and Jasmin Harrell helped lead the Patriots on their surprising run to the Division III title in 2007. Long Beach State-bound Megan Denio leads Beckman's offense.
9. Mater Dei: Miranda Tamayo is a talented freshman pitcher who should provide some stability in the circle for the Monarchs and Karina Cervantes, Alicia Lucatero and Alyssa Erickson give them some solid sticks.
10. Canyon: The Comanches are very young, but they have a lot of talent. They could be a very good team by the end of the regular season and should challenge El Modena in the Century League. Cheyanne Tarango is expected to be one of the top freshman pitchers in the county.
