LYDIA BAI
Beckman, Sr., OH/RS
Lydia Bai is the most technical hitter in the county. Even with defenses keying in on her at net, she continued to dissect defenses with precision from all spots on the floor. Her jump serve also posed problems for opponents and could be a momentum changer. She was the undeniable leader of her team and its kills leader. She will attend Stanford next year.
KIRBY BURNHAM
Newport Harbor, Sr., OH
Kirby Burnham was the team's big-time player from the outside. She finished as the team leader in kills, but also had the ability to dig balls from the back. She provided a consistent serve as well, and is attending USC in the fall.
JANE CROSON
Los Alamitos, Jr., OH
Dig, pass, serve and hit, Jane Croson can do it all. Her versatility is invaluable to her team. She provided a powerful swing and a serve that led to many runs. She was the Griffins' go-to player throughout the season and helped her team reach the CIF-SS Division I-AA championship match and qualify for the state playoffs.
EMILY HARTONG
Los Alamitos, Sr., MB
Hartong is the county's most athletic middle. Her speed gives her a wide range at net, and also allows her to recover fast. It made her among the county's top blockers. She has a quick jump and is an accurate hitter. That combination caused fits for defenses. She is attending the University of Hawaii next fall.
HALEIGH HAMPTON
Huntington Beach, Sr., MB
At 6-foot-6, Haleigh Hampton was a force in the middle this season for the Oilers. She had a hitting percentage of .500 for the season. Her presence helped the Oilers win their first league title since 2000 as the team went on a playoff run, reached the CIF-SS Division I-A title match and qualified for state.
GRACEE GALLARDA
El Dorado, Sr., Setter
Fast, agile and athletic, Gallarda guided the Golden Hawks to the quarterfinals of the CIF-SS Division I-A playoffs with her spot-on passing. El Dorado relied on its speed for its success, and Gallarda was responsible for running the team's unconventional offense.
KELLY HEENAN
Newport Harbor, Sr., Libero
There wasn't a better server at the position than Kelly Heenan. She could also play defense. On a team that was the best in the county at digging balls, she was its best defender and had the ability to cover a large area on the court.
