Tarbut V'Torah's Avdee, Roberts earn national honors
Jewish Hoops America named Eric Avdee of Tarbut V’Torah as its national player of the year and Tarbut coach Patrick Roberts as its national coach for the 2009-10 season.
Tarbut went 24-5 this past season and advanced to a CIF-Southern Section championship game for the second year in a row. The Lions lost to Ribet Academy of Los Angeles in this past season’s Division 6-AA final.
Avdee was a senior forward on the team.
Tarbut’s Brad Neutel made the Jewish Hoops America second team and the Lions’ Zach Bruss received honorable mention.
Roberts, 74, gave up his position as Tarbut’s boys basketball coach after the season to become the school’s girls basketball coach and athletic director.
Younessi Shar, who played at Tarbut, now is Tarbut’s boys coach.
