El Toro's top-ranked boys swim team wasn't at full strength for prelims at the 36th Foothill Swim Games on Friday.
Judging by the Chargers' blazing times, the casual observer probably didn't notice.
Swimming without standout sprinter Griffin White and key members Ryan Johnson and Ryan Russell, the Chargers still qualified first in each of the three relays.
White is among the water polo players attending Junior Day at Cal today.
El Toro's times in the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays were especially impressive. In the medley,
Russell Renteria, Ryan Freerks, Tyler Small and Tyler Westerfield clocked a time of 1 minute, 41.96 seconds.
In the 200 free relay, Steven Donohue, Cameron Henry, Westerfield and Small combined for a 1:29.38. El Toro's 400 free relay touched in 3:21.10.
Santa Margarita's Mark Reese produced the top individual swim in grabbing the top spot in the breaststroke with a 59.96.
