In Monday's baseball highlights:

Mater Dei 9, Canyon 8:A.J. Roth doubled home the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning for the No. 1 Monarchs (6-0).

Bolsa Grande 5, Fairmont Prep 0:David Covaroubias pitched a complete game and finished with seven strikeouts to earn the victory for the Matadors (4-0) in the nonleague game.

Javier Velasquez hit a two-run home run and drove in three runs for Bolsa Grande.
