A Q&A with the Mater Dei defensive lineman, who has committed to Nebraska.

Cameron MeredithPlayer: Cameron Meredith
School: Mater Dei
Position: Defensive lineman

Committed to: Nebraska

Trips he took: Nebraska (official), several unofficial

How was your trip to Nebraska?
"(When) they offered me and I didn't really want to go there. When you're from California, you don't know, you've never been there. None of my family was there.

"My Mom did some research and I told her, 'I won't go there. I'll never go there.' But I went and I loved it. The people were the best part. They're Midwestern people, real American people, hardworking. The whole state supports Nebraska. I thought that was cool. They don't have anything else but Nebraska football."

Describe what it was like to be recruited:
"At first, it was really cool. Then you get phone calls every day and it gets kind of crazy. I'm just like, I've got to do homework. But thank God I'm fortunate enough. God blessed me to be recruited and go on to college. It was fun, but it was like a job. It's a business."

Schools that offered him a scholarship:
Washington, Washington State, Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon, Oregon State, San Diego State, Colorado, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Boise State

Schools that have shown interest in him:
Tennessee, Michigan State, UCLA, USC

What is the strength of your commitment?
"It's a pretty solid verbal."

What could change your mind, if anything?
"Nothing, really."

Did Nebraska's head coaching change affect anything?
"I was like, I don't know if I'll like the new coaches, but I committed to Nebraska, not just for the coaches. I was just wondering who the coach was going to be. Any kid would be sketchy about that.

"I probably knew (about the coaching change) a couple days before the media did. The coach who recruited me, Bill Busch, is not there anymore. But he called me and told me, 'There's no place like Nebraska.' I thought that meant something.

"I met Coach (Bo) Pellini at my school right after they made the announcement. He came to Mater Dei. I was still worried about it, but then I got to meet the D-line coach, his (Coach Pellini's) brother. And I had a really good feeling about it.

"(And) at first I thought I'd never even think about going there."
