Trinity: Girls team-by-team, key dates
Team-by-team analysis and list of important games.
1. Santa Margarita
Comment:The Eagles lost their twin towers - Whitney Wood and Georgia Follmer - to graduation and Scott Bricker replaces long-time coach Richard Schaaf, but the eagles remain one of the top teams in the county. Melissa Zornig, Lauren Oosdyke and Gillian Gipe return to make a run at the Division I-AA title and possibly another run in the Division III state tournament.
2. Mater Dei
Comment:Kevin Kiernan, who won three state titles, six CIF titles and 110 consecutive Freeway League games at Troy, takes over as the new coach of the Monarchs. Mater Dei has some solid veterans, even with the loss of Mya Olivier, and some talented freshmen for Kiernan to work with.
3. JSerra
Comment:The Lions are loaded with veterans, led by Jourdan Banks. JSerra's players have gained valuable experience and appear to be ready to challenge the top teams in this league.
4. Orange Lutheran: The Lancers are capable of knocking off any team in the county's top 10, so it makes them very dangerous in this highly-competitive league.
5. Rosary
Comment:The Royals were winless in league laast season, but they are much improved and should be very competitive this season. Getting one of the three automatic playoff berths might be out of reach in this league, but the Royals definitely have a shot at qualifying as an at-large team.
