Q&A with North's Sean Kurtz, part 2
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Q&A with North's Sean Kurtz, part 2
Last week, we chatted with Canyon linebacker Sean Kurtz to get his thoughts on the upcoming O.C. All-Star game. We checked in with him again on Tuesday to find out how the North team's preparations are going.
Q: What did you guys focus on today?
Sean Kurtz: Today was about getting prepared for the game. Practice was slower, we’re done hitting. We all know how to hit, that’s why we’re here.
Q: What will you be the focus in the final two practices of the week?
Kurtz: We’re just going to finetune some things, like goal-line defense, goal-line offense and work on some of the special teams.
Q: Do you keep asking yourself, ‘Is it Friday yet’?
Kurtz: It is kind of like the end of school. You’re getting to those last couple of days and you’re like, ‘I just want to play right now.’ It is going to be difficult to try and keep focused, but we’re going to have to try and do it.
Q: Do you know how you’re going to approach the game once it finally gets here?
Kurtz: It’s definitely about having fun, but at the same time, you don’t want to be embarrassed. You don’t want to be that guy who everyone goes, ‘Who is that guy and how did he make the all-star team.’ You want to go out and you want to put on a show. You want your team to win.
Q: Having fun is important, especially with everyone heading off to college shortly.
Kurtz: You have to take it light and get in the right mindset and have fun. We’re all going off to college and it is all going to get serious. I’ve been told my entire high school career to have fun with it because as soon as you go on to the bigger place...it is going to be a job. We’re having fun right now and that’s the biggest thing.
Q: Defensively, what do you guys have to focus on in order to be successful?
Kurtz: We have to know what our responsibilities are. We’re all switching around and you have to know your assignments. We’ve all been trying to learn every position on the field, just so we know what’s going on.
