Six things you should know about the Eagles:
1. A change of offensive philosophy is in the works.
“This year we’re going to be throwing the ball around a little bit,” Coach Mike Jacot said. When asked if they’re to throw more than last year, Jacot said, “A lot more.”
2. The World is his -- or at least the starting quarterback job. Ryan World, who moved into the starting job midway through last season, is back for his first full season.
“Last year, I was battling for it (the starting job),” he said. “This year, I feel like I’m more important to the team and I can lead the team better.”
3. They have their sights set on contending for the Trinity League title.
“We want to win league, that’s our No. 1 goal,” A.J. Cruz said. “We’re young, but we need our seniors to step up like the ’06 team that went to the CIF-SS semifinals. Nobody thought we were going to be that good, but our senior leadership really stepped up.”
4. Two players to watch: DB/RB A.J. Cruz, WR Gavin Escobar
5. Area of need:defensive line
6. Area of strength:offensive line
