Spring Insider: Q&A with Max Reza

Q&A with Max Reza

Last season Max Reza had a quarterback’s number (#3) but his impact on the field came at tight end. He had 17 receptions for 325 yards and five touchdowns. Reza completed seven of 14 passes for 114 yards in limited time at quarterback.

Next season he will move under the center, replacing quarterback Mike Vanderipe, where a No. 3 should be.

Question: What do you hope to accomplish during spring practice?
Max Rexa: This is all about getting the team together and building that camaraderie that we had last year.

Q: Are you looking forward to stepping into role of leader?
MR: Yes. Expectations are at an all-time high. And seniors have to be on top of everything. ... we’re looking to repeat.

Q: What impressed you the most about last year’s leaders, guys like Ryan Saumur and Mike Vanderipe?
MR:
They were the greatest leaders that we’ve ever had. They were in the weight room after practice, they were out here (practice field) playing catch every day. ... We really learned how to be a family and that helps on the football field.

Q: Who’s the one NFL player that you see yourself playing like?
MR:
Brett Favre. He was the toughest guy and he never missed a game. He was the greatest quarterback of all time.

Q: What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?
MR:
That I’m 225 pounds. I’m not your typical quarterback.
