Spring Insider: Six things to know about the Friars

Six things you should know about the Friars:

1. This is not last year’s team.
“We’re young and we’re not as big as we were last year, but we’re tougher than last year,” running back Greg Portis said. “Everybody on the team pretty much has a chip on their shoulder (from) being smaller than (other teams).”

2. It’s nice not being in the spotlight.
“We’re more focused because there’s not as many people here filming (or) as many scouts,” Portis said.

3. They know they are underdogs.
“Yeah, they always rank us low every year,” Portis said. “But we always come out with a victory because we work hard in the weight room and on the field.”

4. Players to watch:

• Dl Kirifi Taula

• WR Chris Nichols

5. Areas of need: offensive line, quarterback

6. Areas of strength: defensive backs, wide receiver
