Question: What are your goals this spring?
Frank Mazzotta: We’re looking to find some guys that can learn quickly. You can’t do a lot of hitting in spring. We’re looking for speed and learning ability.
Q: What do you think about moving from the Southeast Division, which you won last year, to the Southwest Division?
FM: That’s going to be exciting. The competition level is going to be so good. Every week is going to be a good game.
Q: What are your thoughts on playing San Clemente and Los Alamitos?
FM: I love playing good football teams. We don’t have the easiest time getting good football teams (to play us). I want our kids to see what Los Alamitos is like, what San Clemente is like. They’re good programs, from freshman to varsity.
Q: What are your expectations of Ronnie Hillman? He looks like he might be one of the top five players in the county.
FM: That’s my expectation. Every big game, Ronnie was there producing. He was doing it every week. It didn’t matter who we played.
Q: Does Hillman need to become more of a leader with Chris Morales gone?
FM: Leaders, they lead by actions first. He’s a kid of few words. But he’s still working like he’s got something to prove. He’s already been a pretty good leader.
